About Valleybrook Golf & Country Club

Established in 1963, Valleybrook Golf and Country Club was one of the first 18-hole residential golf course communities in the country. Quickly garnering prestige across the Southeast in its early years, Valleybrook has hosted nine PGA tour events, as well as nationwide tournaments. The design plays 6,913 yards from the gold tees and gives players a challenging shot maker’s layout with an array of beautiful Scenic City views.

Members and guests of Valleybrook enjoy traditional amenities, including a practice green, driving range, pro shop, locker rooms, full-service restaurant, bar, and event space with catering. While the club is currently semi-private, the new owner has plans to reimagine the membership program and re-evaluate the requirements for course and club access as new and exciting modern amenities are unveiled. General Partner and co-owner Jimmy White and his Southeast commercial real estate team at Urban Story Ventures are in the process of redeveloping the Valleybrook Club and its experience on and off the course.

Course Highlights

Built in 1959, Valleybrook Golf Course spans over 130 acres within a tight-knit community in Hixson, Tennessee, just a short drive from Chattanooga’s city center. The 18-hole Par 71 course was originally designed by course architect Charles “Chic” Adams. Over the years, members have appreciated the diverse mix of scenery and a course layout that keeps you coming back for the next round.

Top of the line primo TifEagle Bermuda greens were installed in 2020, and the new owners are looking forward to providing additional upgrades and course enhancements in the coming months.

Course Etiquette

“Golf is a game of respect and sportsmanship.” — Jack Nicklaus

Here at Valleybrook, we play by the book. Thank you in advance for following our course etiquette!

  • What to wear: Historically, we would require shirts with collars. However, the modern and trendy collarless polos also work.
  • What not to wear: a tank top, t-shirt, etc. Also, no jeans, sweatpants, leggings, or cut-off shorts please. And, definitely no bathing suits (except by a pool).
  • Soft spikes only.
  • No personal food, beverages (non-alcoholic or containing alcohol), and coolers.
  • Keep up the pace of play; allow faster groups the courtesy to play through.
  • Approved spectators should remain on the paths.
  • As you’ve heard since childhood, pick up after yourself. Rake the bunkers, repair the divots, place your trash in the bins.
  • Respect your fellow players, members, guests, and of course — respect our personnel. We won’t have it any other way.

Course Regulations

USGA Rules apply, except where local rules are noted and take precedence.

Vision for Valleybrook

In May of 2023, Jimmy White and partners within Urban Story Ventures acquired Valleybrook Golf and Country Club with a clear and transformative vision — reignite the cherished Valleybrook brand and elevate the member experience, making it a premiere social hub within the Chattanooga golf community. Jimmy and his fellow investors are based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and have decades of experience with developing golf courses and commercial real estate. What’s more, the new owners share fond memories of growing up around Valleybrook and are intentionally redeveloping the club in a way that honors the past and embraces the needs of the next generation of members.
